The Tampa Bay Lightning head to Nashville to complete their preseason home-and-home with the Predators. On Monday, the Lightning put a veteran line-up on the ice to earn the 2-1 victory with Ilya Mikheyev and Conor Geekie providing the offense. While Mikheyev gets the night off, Geekie will be back on the ice as he continues to fight for a spot on the roster. Along with Geekie, Sam O’Reilly, and Benjamin Rautiainen are also getting their second game in a row as they remain in camp looking to earn a spot. O’Reilly had a strong performance on Monday, playing 15:10 and generating two shots on goal off of five attempts. The rookie’s pressure in the offensive zone also led to a turnover that Geekie cashed in for the game-winning goal. O’Reilly also won six-out-of-eight face-offs which might be the biggest stat on the sheet for him. Dennis Hildeby will make his first start in a Lightning uniform after being acquired in the off-season in a trade for Nick Paul. The line-up isn’t completely void of NHL talent as Emil Lilleberg, Charles-Edouard D’Astous, and Gage Goncalves all make their preseason debut. Another good sign for Lightning fans will be Pontus Holmberg returning to the ice for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury at the end of last season. While the Lightning went with a NHL-heavy line-up on Monday, the Predators had a much younger set of players. Based on the proposed roster it appears that won’t be the case tonight.
