Lightning News: With the 2026 Prospect Showcase first day in the books, the 2026-27 season has officially begun. The Predators and Hurricanes met yesterday and the Lightning play this afternoon at 2 p.m. ET against the Predators. The game will be streamed on the Lightning app and their official NHL website . [ Tampa Free Press ] The Lightning made a roster move a few days ago and brought in Kole Lind on a Professional Try Out Contract last week. The Lightning currently have 48/50 contracts signed according to PuckPedia as of this morning. [ Raw Charge ] It’s no secret that Nikita Kucherov is entering the last year of his contract with the Lightning. The two sides only have a few days left to sign an eight year contract with the new CBA beginning on September 16th restricting the max contract to seven years. There’s some previous bad blood between Krieder and Carey Price from back in 2014.
