You don’t usually see quotes like that in the NHL. Brady Tkachuk returns to Ottawa on October 21st. [ TSN ] For the first time in almost 20 years, the NHL has a new chairman as Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis was elected as the new chairman of NHL’s Board of Governors. Jeremy Jacobs of the Boston Bruins had held that role since 2007. Leonsis will be the voice of the NHL owner’s as they navigate potentially expanding the league to 33 or 34 franchises. [ RMNB ] Bill Guerin has been very busy in Minnesota the last few years and was recently rewarded with a new multi-year extension as General Manager. Guerin won the Jim Gregory Award winner as General Manager of the Year last season with the Wild and was also General Manager of the gold-winning USA Olympic team. [ ESPN ] The Dallas Stars took care of some business and extended Sam Steel for four more years with a cap hit of $3.7 million that kicks in at the beginning of next season.
