Summary
Dylan Larkin's camp refuses to expand his 10-team list as his trade request stalemate with the Red Wings drags on. This Detroit Red Wings podcast also has the Red Wings vs Panthers & Lightning recaps: a 5-3 win Monday, then a 4-2 loss where John Gibson got hurt. (00:00) - Intro (05:20) - Larkin Trade List Standoff Pierre LeBrun reports Larkin's camp won't go beyond the 10 teams already on his list, even with Detroit eyeing Montreal, Boston, LA and Buffalo. With five years left on his deal and $282,000 (and counting) lost sitting out, we explain why Minnesota's Danila Yurov package isn't enough and interim GM Shawn Horcoff is right to hold firm. (26:10) - Edvinsson December Deadline Darren Dreger reports the Red Wings still hope Simon Edvinsson changes his mind before the Dec. 1 deadline. If this contract standoff ends in a trade, we explain why a last-minute bidding war for a 23-year-old top-pair defenseman works in Detroit's favor. (31:00) - Panthers Win & Rasmussen Resurgence? Carter Mazur snipes his first goal to open the scoring. Michael Rasmussen's net-front screen sets up a Justin Faulk power play goal, and Todd McLellan publicly backs his guys. (41:55) - Lightning Loss & Gibson Injury Lucas Raymond scores his sixth in a push back from 3-0 down that falls short, and John Gibson leaves after one period with a lower-body injury. Daniil Tarasov allows one goal in relief, and we make the case for giving him a run as the starting goalie with Michal Postava recalled on emergency conditions. (52:25) - Jets Comeback & Remix Jerseys The Jets erase a 4-0 deficit with 2:40 left and beat the Canadiens in overtime, after NHL teams trailing by four with three minutes to go had been 0-10,300. We also grade the Hometown Remix jerseys: Detroit's Hockeytown version plays it safe, while Anaheim goes back to the Mighty Ducks. (01:03:00) - Overtime Mailbag Your questions on whether the standoffs hurt Detroit's reputation with players and what to expect with Emmitt Finnie and Marco Kasper down the middle. Plus, the roughly three-week Connor Hellebuyck suspension precedent, Nikita Kucherov asking out, and why players rarely switch positions. --- WWP Night at the LCA dates announced!
