About the Team
The WSF New York Sled Rangers operate under the Wheelchair Sports Federation (WSF) with a mission to provide a competitive sports outlet for physically disabled youth who might otherwise not have access to team sports. The program covers all athlete costs and welcomes new participants from across the metropolitan area, including NYC, Westchester, Rockland County, New Jersey, and Long Island.
Since their founding, over 75 athletes have played for the team, gaining not only athletic skills but also confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of independence. Notable alumni have gone on to compete for Team USA, including multiple Paralympic gold medalists.
The team hosts annual fundraising events, most notably the "Breakaway" event, which helps cover ice time, equipment, and tournament fees. Their motto is "Go Rangers!"
